Services

Uniformed Security Guards

Uniformed security officers are one of the best ways to protect a business or orginization. This model of security has been around since ancient Rome.   Uniformed security officers in the area act as a visual deterrent to anyone considering committing criminal activity. The random patterns and times of security patrols ensure that anyone trying to 'time the guard' to enter and commit a crime, cannot do that. Uniformed security officers can be unarmed or armed depending on client needs and budget.

For people looking to commit crimes, criminals generally are opportunists and look for easy ways to commit crimes with a low chance of getting caught. The fact  that there is a security guard present, and that they are patrolling randomly and the potential criminal never knows exactly where they will be, means the chance of getting caught goes way up. Usually criminals will move on to an easier target.

For people committing criminal activity, uniformed security guards can detect that activity during their random security patrols and by observing the area in between patrols. This quick detection allows the security guard to notify law enforcement and observe the subjects until help arrives.

Event Security

We can provide security officers for your event, wedding, reception, quinceañera, graduation parties and more. Security officers will patrol the event, building, and parking areas to deter crime, protect property, and respond to any problems. If needed, security officers can control access to the event by checking invitations or tickets, and security officers can assist guests as needed.

Most event halls being rented for your event will require a letter from the security company prior to rental verifying security will be provided for the event and our company can provide that.

Fire Watch

Fire watch is a temporary measure used whenever there is a heightened danger of a fire at a location. It is designed to protect people and property by having continual surveillance on an area and preventing fires by noting issues that can be taken care of to lessen risk, or to detect fires that do start quickly so that notification can be made for emergency response, and the fire can be suppressed quickly preventing or minimizing losses.

The three elements of fire are oxygen, fuel, and heat. If two of those exist it may be a good idea to establish a fire watch. If all three are present then having a fire watch is crucial. There is also a danger with chemicals. If dangerous, mixed or volatile chemicals are on site, fire danger goes up and fire watch may be a good idea.

Security + Technology

Security Phone App.

security phone app

We can use a security patrol phone app. that has the advantage of allowing clients or managers to have remote access so they can view existing conditions on their property at anytime and view security patrols or incidents as they happen.

The security officer makes their random security patrols, imports gps location data, takes pictures, and information is uploaded in real time so you can see current conditions. Security guards document present conditions or any problems that may arise, along with any comments and notifications that may have been made. This information is available to the client so they can have a permanent record of the security patrols on that date.

Guard Tour System

guard tour system

This system from Guard1 requires the security guard to carry an electronic  data collection device. The security guard must make physical contact with the hand held device to a strategically mounted electronic button at a designated checkpoint. The contact records the time, date, and location of the check which is automatically compiled into a report which is emailed to the client providing a permanent record of areas checked.

The advantage of this system compared to the cellphone patrol app is that the guard is not focused on a phone screen and typing but on observing the property as they conduct the security patrol. The system works well even in the worst of weather so there is no downtime.

The system is very reliable and used by many law enforcement agencies to do building checks and in jails and prisons to do inmate cell checks.

Common Security Problems

Trespassing

Trespassing is a common problem businesses experience when a business is closed, after hours and on weekends, or if the business is open to the public when a person has been issued a prior trespass warning prohibiting them from returning.

Many times criminals will trespass to 'case' an area, seeing what is there, if there is any security officers, if security cameras are present and their locations, and if any personnel are present. Depending on the type of business and layout, they may pretend to be lost or just passing through. For this reason, it is important for businesses closed to the public to post 'no trespassing' signs.

Security officers stop trespassing by documenting any trespassers found on private property that is not open to the public. Security officers will discreetly get the person's image on body camera. When someone is found they are given a formal trespass warning that is recorded and the person is informed if they return they are subject to arrest. Most of the time this formal warning is effective and the person will not return.

For businesses open to the public, the formal trespass warning is one of the most powerful tools as security officer has to stop someone who is causing problems and not wanted at the business.Trespassing is a common problem businesses experience when a business is closed, after hours and on weekends, or if the business is open to the public when a person has been issued a prior trespass warning prohibiting them from returning.

Vandalism

A lot of businesses are experiencing vandalism in the Northern California area. Sometimes its buildings being tagged with graffiti spray paint. Many times its more extensive. Sometimes the vandalism accompanies another criminal activity such as a theft. Virtually all businesses are susceptible. We have seen retail storefront windows shattered or shot out, vehicle vandalism and theft is prevalent in strip malls and apartment complexes, on public streets, as well as at special events. Some businesses have had fleet vehicles tires slashed, or vehicles damaged in other ways. We stop vandalism with aggressive crime suppression patrols and formal trespass warnings issued to any person found who is not supposed to be on the property. High visibility provides a deterrent and the random patrol patterns allow for detection of vandalism in progress.

Theft

Businesses now are dealing with many types of thefts. Items being stolen range from catalytic converters, small machinery, tools, welders, portable generators, portable lights, portable compressors, batteries, propane, canopies, merchandise or anything of value. Many businesses don't realize they attract criminals by leaving stuff outside or unsecured and accessible. A great example of this was a big box retail store that had a holiday special on large screen televisions. The store set up a display with multiple boxes of televisions at the front of the store by the entrance. People in a car pulled up to the entry, walked in, and walked out with as many tv's as they could fit in the car, and left the scene. The theft took seconds. The number one security tip for businesses is to secure items as best they can.

Currently shoplifting thefts are very prevalent in our area and all throughout California. There are several reasons for this. First, the limit for Grand Theft was raised to $950 or more in value. That means anything less is a misdemeanor considered petty theft with minimal punishment. In addition some District Attorneys are not prosecuting some thefts, such as thefts for groceries, health and beauty items, or items of general need. This law may have had good intentions as some offenders were being given severely long prison sentences for relatively minor thefts due to California's three strikes law, however, the effect being seen is now is there is little deterrent for the person committing the crime. In addition, since the pandemic, masks have become common and accepted in businesses. This means thieves can more easily conceal their identity without raising suspicion by wearing a mask.

Many stores have a passive approach to shoplifters due to liability concerns or company policies. This has been having the effect of prior successful thefts usually leading to the businesses being stolen from over and over. Some stores have dozens of thefts daily. This has led many retailers to have to close stores as losses become too great for them to continue operations at the location.

To mitigate these issues uniformed security guards can be posted at stores to act as a deterrent and discourage thefts. For other business thefts, uniformed security guards can deter and aggressive patrols will detect thefts in progress.Security officers we deal with businesses that have many types of thefts. Burglary

Like theft, many businesses deal with commercial burglary taking place in a commercial structure, or outbuilding. Perpetrators are smart and generally will try avoid getting caught inside a building or vehicle which means these types of crimes are generally very quick and the criminal will get the stolen property out and stashed within minutes so they are not caught in the act of committing the crime or with possession of the stolen property which means quick response is critical. Many businesses have CCTV. We have found the cameras are not much of a deterrent and we have caught people multiple times stealing just feet away from cameras in the past. Criminals will wear masks, bandanas covering their face, caps pulled low, hoodies, or they simply look down or away from the camera so they can't be identified.

There are a few things things that can work well in defending property and/or catching criminals committing burglaries. First, an alarm is important, but it must be accompanied with a quick response by having an employee or on-site security officer who can respond within a short amount of time. Commercial burglaries in progress will get a fairly quick police response by most agencies if it is called in to 911 by the security officer and there are police officers available. An alarm by itself will not prevent these as the thieves get in and out and police response can be slow for alarms and they usually do not get there in time. Second, a protected store front is important when the business is closed. By having a roll-up or other barrier it will act as a deterrent because it will slow any burglary. Hopefully the criminal will look for an easier target. It may also frustrate an attack once a smash and grab burglary is started.
